The ancient era is not just another name for the modern, but an integral part of the civilization of the future. Our modern civilization has evolved along the continuum of ancient civilizations. The modern civilization of the 21st century will, in turn, become a part of ancient civilizations after 100, 500, and 1000 years. The tablets, smartphones, and socio-economic structures of modern civilization will be rooted in the future culture and civilization, forming an organic network for the civilization of the future. Therefore, the ancient era is not only another name for the modern but also a part of the civilization of the future. Hence, modern civilization evolves and develops along the continuum through an understanding of ancient civilizations.

The book on learning Egyptian hieroglyphs is a guidebook for learning hieroglyphs through the ancient Egyptian civilization. Titled 'A Guidebook to Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs Where Civilization and Script Meet,' the book emphasizes an understanding of hieroglyphs based on civilization rather than a direct approach to characters. It also presents the historical process and decoding of Egyptian hieroglyphs, which were a dead language for 1400 years, providing a valuable opportunity to understand hieroglyphs. The book is structured to allow readers to write hieroglyphs directly using an English alphabet-based pronunciation chart and learn through practice exercises. Furthermore, it introduces real ancient Egyptian words and expressions, offering readers an opportunity to feel even closer to the ancient Egyptian civilization.

Perhaps the practical value of this book lies in the fact that it is a introductory guide to hieroglyphs written by a Korean Egyptologist who specialized in Egyptology and hieroglyphs. The author intended this book to be a light introduction to Egyptian hieroglyphs that can be read by people of all ages. However, the more one reads, the more one will sense the author's academic depth and understanding of script and civilization conveyed through this book.
